Broken Disney DVD or Blu-ray?

I know this doesn't have anything to do with food, but I found something I just HAVE to share!!!
I don't know about you, but we have had some problems with our DVDs getting broken or sratched by kids.  Yes. It happens.  Especially once you have little ones.  As an adult you can deal with the loss of a movie, but for a child, it's heart breaking.  Especially when it happens on accident and to a very LOVED movie.
Well, I've found something absolutely INCREDIBLE that Disney offers!  If you accidentally damage or break one of your DVD or Blu-ray discs, you can get a replacement for a nominal charge of $6.95 for per DVD and $8.95 for per Blu-ray disc.  All you have to do is go to the Disney Movie Rewards site at the very bottom of the screen there is an option you can choose "Guest Service Center".  That will get you to the Disc Replacement Program and the instructions and forms you need (Canadian help is available, too).  SWEET!  I know!  Disney really DOES LOVE their customers!!!  Plus you can do this to ALL of your messed up Disney DVDs once per year, not just one title per year like I originally thought!  Incredible!

I sent my package off the end of August.
And about two weeks later, received this..brand new in the wrapper:
See, if you didn't think Disney was incredible before, NOW you should really know it is!

I LOVE DISNEY!!!!!

Now to send in our Cars DVD next....

 REMEMBER
Limit: One replacement per title per calendar year.

  2. This is a fantastic thing! But...is there a membership fee to sign up for the movie rewards site?

    1. The Disney movie rewards site is free to sign up for and you get points for signing up!

  3. There is no membership fee. However, I just checked the site out, and it does cost about 7-8 dollars per movie to get a new one. Personally, I think it might be cheaper to get a new copy off of amazon.com or another site like that!

    1. I just checked Amazon. Most of the movies I need new copies of definitely cost more than 7-8 dollars, so I'll be going through Disney.

  4. Just checked the site and it says it is $6.95 for DVD and I think, $8.95 for blue ray. Guess they changed their policy:(

  9. there is a fee to replace the DVDs now

  10. I'm bummed that there is a fee now. :(

  11. That's what happens when you broadcast it all over the internet.

  12. The fee sucks, but for a new DVD/Blu-Ray, it isn't that much.

Even if you go onto Amazon or Ebay, there is no guarantee that the copy you order won't have problems if it's previously viewed.

Also, Disney likes to put their movies on moratorium (a/k/a the "disney vault") so after a certain time period, that movie cannot be purchased and if you find a new copy on Amazon or Ebay, it might be $50.

  13. I just checked and I can't even find a disc replacement center lol. I can however recommend if you have a scratched dvd, Hastings (or other movie rental store) will "buff" your movies for a few of 1-2.00 per movie. If you buy a used dvd from there, inspect it right at the counter and if there are any scratches, have them buff it for free!

  14. You can actually buff your own DVDs with a special buffer and they work just fine. I've even used it for old, used DVDs that I bought at Goodwill and after buffing, they are like new :)

    1. What do u use to buff DVD/CD's to make em like new?

    2. I have a Skip Dr, hand crank version. It's about $15 on Amazon and you can buy replacement buffing wheels for it for about $10. Each wheel does about 20 buffs or so. You MUST use the spray fluid generously and be steady and consistent with your cranking. I make sure the disc masks at least two full revolutions in the Skip Dr. Sometimes a really bad scratch will need a couple tries, but I've been really happy with the results. Good luck! :)

  16. found this through pinterest....thanks so much for sharing!!! the $6.95 for shipping and handling is WAY cheaper than buying a whole new dvd, some of which are in that awful "vault". ;)

  20. http://www.disneystudioshelp.com/detail_TOPSUPP_DiscReplace__SUPPORT.html is the link for the disc replacement center that someone stated they couldn't find.

Also - $6.95 for a NEW DVD is great. If you buy new/used off Amazon or Ebay you can't guarantee it won't have scratches or whatever on them! Wish I would have known about this sooner!

  21. Keep in mind with Amazon, that 9 times out of 10 the shipping costs won't justify the cheaper prices. It will most likely still be cheaper to pay the Disney replacement costs.

  22. Actually, if you go to the bottom of Disney Rewards website, and click on the DisneyDVD.Com, you can find the replacement program link there.

  23. AWESOME!!! Of course it will take several years to get them all replaced, but maybe by then my kids will grow up enough to stop scratching them!!

    1. Remember it says 1 per year per TITLE! That means if you have 15 titles that need to be replaced they will! Just if you break the same title in the same year you replaced it... you will have to wait

  24. Thanks for posting this....but I have a question- When you sent your DVD back your photo just has the disc, form and the envelope- is that all you needed to do? Did you need to show the DVD case? I have a lot of movies that don't have cases due to toddlers.

  29. Great to know! If you just have some scratches (they can be pretty major), just use Kids Crest toothpaste to buff them out - it REALLY works!!

  30. Hi there, do you by any chance know if DreamWorks does the same thing and how do I go about sending a disc to them?

    ReplyDelete
  31. I wish I knew this sooner. I just threw away a bunch of scratched dvd's!!

  32. Buy DVD, rip to iTunes, put DVD in storage. Stream movie to TV using AppleTV. Never have broken disc to start with. Problem solved. :-)

  33. 6,99¢ per DVD??? it's much more cheaper if you buy them in a second hand store...
